Korean American Museum Los Angeles

Located at 3727 W. 6th Street, the Korean American Museum focuses on interpreting, preserving the Korean and Korean American heritage and passing it on to future generations. They achieve this through special events and several types of exhibits. The Korean American Museum first started as a historical society in 1991. It became a non-profit corporation in 1993 and one year later they organized their first exhibit at Koreatown Plaza.

For all those interested in the Korean American history and culture, the Korean American Museum presented throughout the years a large number of special exhibits. We shall only mention Korean American Footsteps, Ties that Bind: Maedup over Time, Reviewing our Past- Tracing Family Stories, Contemporary Korean American Artists, Kimchi Xtravaganza!, and Change.

From a small group of Koreans who came to Los Angeles in 1904, the Korean community has been through an explosive growth in the last decades. The Korean American community tries to preserve its cultural roots and at the same time, find its path in the American societ
