Coliseum and Sports Arena

Located at 3911 South Figueroa Street, the Coliseum and Sports Arena are two of the greatest sport buildings in America.

Built in 1920, the Coliseum was opened for the public in 1923 and hosted its first game in October. It is the only venue in the world which hosted two Olympiads. It was declared a State and Federal Historical Landmark in 1984.

Designed by Welton Becket, the Sports Arena was opened in 1959, and ever since then, the Coliseum and the Sports Arena have been operating in tandem. They are run by the Los Angeles Coliseum Commission, created in September 1945.

If you wish to buy presents for your family and friends, check out ‘The Main Event’. You’ll find it between the Coliseum and the Sports Arena. For those who are interested in sport event information, athletes and coaches, we have prepared the ‘Memorial Court of Honor’. And if you ever get hungry we invite you to taste culinary delicacies at the Food Court. You can even invite your family to a picnic here, and we promise you’ll have a wonderful time.
